GoPro Karma release date rumors: Company's design for drone based on a patented design

(Facebook/GoPro)GoPro's design for its first-ever drone, Karma, is said to have leaked online.

Amid the supposed financial distress that GoPro is said to be experiencing, it is now believed that the company is pinning its hopes on its upcoming and first-ever drone, the Karma, which is set to be released around the Holidays. While it remains uncertain if Karma can redeem GoPro from its financial slump, the latest leaked patent of the said device seems to suggest that it is worth the wait for those who have long anticipated its arrival.

A YouTube video of Patent Yogi shows a patented design of a drone filed by a mechanical engineer named Ryan Goldstein, and it is believed to be the design of Karma. He currently works as Mehanical Aerial design of GoPro, but filed the patent prior to his involvement in the company.

If speculations saying that the well-guarded design of GoPro's Karma will be based on Goldstein's creation, then, gadget fanatics can expect the Karma to be really different from other drones available in the market. At the first look, one may think that the device is just a simple rectangular box. However, inside the box is the drone's motor, propellers, electronics landing gear, and camera.

If the use for which arises, setting it up is as easy as pie as its motor arms can be easily extended from the inside of the box, then, its propellers, which are kept in a pocket of the body, can be attached to them. Without question, this cutting-edge design does not only offer a different look for a drone; it protects the aforementioned parts from external damage, too, if not in use.

Exciting as the features of the Karma may sound, it remains a speculation at this point in time, much more that Goldstein filed the patent for his design back in 2015 when he was still not working with GoPro.

GoPro announced its first quarter report released a few months back that the Karma will not be available until the holidays this year. With another delay, it is but understandable why those who have been anticipating it were left in disappointment.

Nonetheless, if GoPro is, indeed, adapting Goldstein's design, there is no denying that Karma will be worth the wait and will be one great Christmas present for gadget fanatics.
