'Grand Theft Auto VI' release date news: Game delayed to 2019 for VR compatibility?

Fans continue to look forward to the release date of one of the most anticipated game sequel, "Grand Theft Auto VI" or "GTA VI." So far, an exact release date for the upcoming installment has yet to be announced, but according to rumors, "GTA VI" may see a 2019 release.

This delay in the release of the game is reportedly due to Rockstar Games' plans of making the game compatible with virtual reality (VR) support. By 2019, most game titles are presumed to work well with VR support, so it's also likely that Rockstar will jump into the bandwagon.

Another contributing factor to the delay of "GTA VI's" release is Leslie Benzie's recent exit from the company. Benzies, the lead developer for the hugely popular "Grand Theft Auto" franchise has let go of the project, and it is assumed that it's hard to find someone to fill in his spot.

According to Neurogadget, the company is facing some challenges since it needs to continue bringing downloadable content (DLC) updates to the existing game title, "Grand Theft Auto V," without compromising the developments for "GTA VI." Since Benzie's exit, it was observed that "GTA V" has no longer received new game updates.

Even though there are still no official announcements from game developers, "GTA VI" continues to be the subject of rumors. The rumor about a female character becoming the main antagonist in the next installment still stands, and Eva Mendes is still being tied to this speculation. At the same time, actor Ryan Gosling, who happens to be Mendes' real-life partner, is also rumored to be part of the new game.

"GTA VI" might also have a new location, with Tokyo and London highly considered. Rumors about the game venturing locations outside of the United States also continue to be rampant.

However, until Rockstar makes an official announcement, these rumors remain as they are and should be taken with a grain of salt.
