Super Bowl fans were treated to plenty of surprises during Sunday's big game. The latest movie trailer for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2" aired just before the event started, and it introduced both the old and new Guardians.

The one-minute movie trailer shows some of the familiar faces of the Guardians including new characters added to the group such as Mantis and Nebula. The infamous pair, Rocket Raccoon and Baby Groot, are now back in action but on a smaller scale. Apparently, right after the end of the first film, Groot came back as a seedling. He now returns to the big screen as the cute Baby Groot and even welcomes Yandu to the team.

According to Vanity Fair, Elizabeth Debicki will also play the movie's main villain — a gold drenched character that goes by the name Ayesha but might be more popularly known to comic fans as Paragon. Even though Ayesha is the main villain in the film, Ego might be up for the part as well. However, things could also go the opposite way, as Yondu is the living proof of it.

"The Guardians of the Galaxy 2" is set two months after the events in the first movie, with all the guardians coming together in the hopes of finding out the identity of Star Lord's father, The Verge wrote. The movie still has its comedic feel to it, with a whole lot of space action and adventure at the same time.

The film is set as part of Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, along with other Marvel movies such as "Doctor Strange," "Black Panther," "Captain America: Civil War," "Avengers: Infinity War," "Ant-Man and the Wasp," and "Captain Marvel."

Marvel is set to release the "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" on May 5.
