Honor 5X Plus release date: phone surfaces on GFXBench database

(Huawei)Honor 5X Plus rumored to refresh the existing lineup

Huawei might have just launched the Mate 8 smartphone with its latest chipset, but it is likely that the company has another device in the works, specifically the Honor 5X Plus. The device was recently spotted as it passed through the GFXBench database.

On the benchmark database, the device was seen with a model number Huawei ABC-UL00 and GSMArena states that all indicators point toward it being the Honor 5X Plus. If the assumption made by industry pundits is correct then the device will be eventually form part of the Honor lineup that the Chinese manufacturer has.

As for the design on the Honor 5X Plus the details revealed in the GFXBench listing first of all points to the device having a 5.2 inch display. Coming to RAM, it is listed as 3 GB and as for the rest of the hardware it appears that a HiSilicon Kirin 935 chipset created by Huawei will be on board. In terms of onboard storage the Honor 5X Plus specifications reveled so far indicate that the device will have 64 GB inbuilt but it is not clear if it will have a micro-SD slot.

The main rear camera on the Honor 5X Plus is expected to be a 13 megapixel version while an 8 megapixel version will be on front. Importantly the GFXBench listing revealed that even though the device will fall squarely in the mid range it will not miss out on much and have GPS, NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

As Chinese manufacturers continue to roll out a number of mid range and ultra cheap phones, many are using premium materials in their construction. This has drastically reduced the difference between premium flagship models that have metal bodies and cheaper ones that come with the same build. Recently Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 3 with a very attractive price tag of $140 and importantly the device also has a fingerprint scanner onboard.
