Android 4.4.3 KitKat is now rolling out for HTC One M8 together with Sense UI, while HTC One M7 will no longer undergo an Android 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 update.

Instead, the M7 version will head directly to Android L when it launches, most likely later this year.

The OS update was announced via a tweet from the official Twitter account of HTC that reads:

"Android 4.4.3 update with Sense 6 rolling out to #HTCOneM8 Developer Edition today. ROM version 2.22.1540.3."

The Android 4.4.3 update brings a host of improvements including security fixes, performance optimization on WiFi, Bluetooth and mobile network, application updates affecting camera, gallery, settings and HTC Sync Manager, and experience optimization for native HTC apps such as BoomSound, extreme power saving mode, Motion Launch and Quick Setting.

Android 4.4.3 KitKat is now seeding to unlocked HTC M8 One handsets within the European region, and eats up the substantial amount of 613 MB storage space.

HTC One M8 brought different dimensions into the mobile realm when it was launched in March this year.

"This extensive range of enhancements shows that we put consumers at the center of everything we do, which is why our customers can be confident they are getting the best smartphone of 2014," Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC Americas, said.

The model won the hearts of many with impressive imaging system that paved the way for superior "selfies," thanks to its 5 MP front-facing camera and the innovative HTC UltraPixel with dual flash and full 1080p HD video recording.

Aside from its cleaner and sleeker redesign, HTC One M8 sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with 2.3 GHz quad-core Krait CPU, plus HTC Sense, HTC BoomSound, HTC BlinkFeed and preloaded Fitbit app.

Outside of the Android 4.4.3 update for HTC's flagship phone, HTC One M8 is reportedly going to feature Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1, according to a report.

Rumors also suggest that this HTC One M8 Windows Phone goes by the secret moniker "W8" and will have Voice LTE, the latest in mobile communication technology.
