Users of the HTC One M8 across the world, including the U.S., have received the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for their phones. HTC had earlier informed users that all carrier versions of the HTC One M8 were unlikely to get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update before its self-imposed deadline of February 1.

But with the launch of HTC One M9 just around the corner, its predecessor, the HTC One M8, has finally received the promised Lollipop update in the U.S. as well. HTC One M8 on T-Mobile and Sprint have already received the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update and media reports now confirm that the HTC One M8 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is rolling out OTA for Verizon Wireless customers.

The Lollipop update brings with it changes in the material design interface, a more unified UE, enhanced notifications and battery saver features. However, users of the HTC One M8 who have installed the Android 5.0 Lollipop update are reportedly complaining of performance issues with their device. There have been complaints of a sudden freezing and forced closing of specific applications, drop in frame rates and slowness experienced during heavy gaming.

Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop update has been designed specifically to enhance battery life and a number of HTC One M8 users are reported to be enjoying about an extra hour of battery life after the update. But some users of the HTC One M8 have reported a decline in battery life after installing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

The enhanced version of HTC Sense user interface that has been installed on the HTC One M8 along with the Android 5.0 Lollipop update is also creating problems, such as non-recognition of user interface inputs and rough transition of menus during usage, forcing users to reboot their device.

Google is coming out with Android Lollipop 5.1, which is expected to fix all these issues resulting from the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the HTC One M8.
