Huawei has just unveiled its latest P8 flagship, but could release a successor to the current Mate 7 phablet by June this year, according to the Chinese smartphone maker's roadmap leaked recently. Based on the specifications of the upcoming Mate 8 mentioned in Huawei's leaked roadmap, the device could rock the phablet world and could even possibly be the best phablet of the year.

The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 has been a huge success in China, with the handset offering powerful specs at a reasonable price and the Huawei Mate 8 could continue that trend. The hugely successful Mate 8 comes with a 6-inch screen with a 1080p resolution and is powered by an octa-core Kirin 925 paired with 3GB of RAM.

According to Huawei's leaked roadmap, the Mate 8 will feature the same 6-inch WQHD display as its predecessor, but will have a higher resolution of 1,440 x 2,560. The Mate 8 is expected to be powered by a Kirin processor and is likely to sport a 16-megapixel rear-facing OIS camera. Despite its powerful specs and reasonable price, the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is available only in China and smartphone enthusiasts are hoping that the Mate 8 will be released worldwide.

Huawei's leaked roadmap has revealed that it plans to launch a number of additional devices by the end of this year. According to the details given in the roadmap, Huawei will announce the Ascend D8, Honor 7 and some unnamed Honor devices by the end of this year. The Huawei Ascend D8, featuring a 5.5-inch WQHD display and premium metal build, and powered by the company's HiSilicon Kirin SoC, will reportedly be launched this month. The company plans to release two unnamed Honor devices in June, followed by the launch of Huawei Honor 7 in the same month and another unnamed Honor handset later.
