One of the Apple iPhone's most famous features is Siri, the company's personal virtual assistant. She can do anything and everything from searching places for a user to eat at to sending messages and setting appointments. The upcoming iOS 9 update of Apple, however, promises to improve Siri's functionality, among other things.

According to Mac Rumors, Siri will have an upgrade to its functionality including contextual awareness to match Google Now. One example of the said upgrade is when a user asks Siri to "Remind me to do this." She will understand what this means and will automatically put it as a reminder.

Aside from the contextual awareness, Siri will also have the ability to do time-based search of the photos and videos stored in the handset. An example: when a user tells her to "show the photos from Utah from last August," Siri will do a search based on the specifics given and show the exact photos the user asked for.

Meanwhile, 9to5 Mac reports that Siri will also be able to access some features of the Apple Music app. A user can simply ask the virtual assistant to add an album to a library, look for a song and even compile a list of songs in a specific genre.

Furthermore, Apple Insider adds that Siri can now also do several math conversions. When a user types in "8 cups," Siri will instantly provide the user with the list of conversions.

There is still no official announcement regarding the iOS 9's release date, but PC Advisor suggests that the upcoming operating system may launch this fall. There was even a leaked memo addressed to Vodafone that says the release date may be scheduled sometime before the launch of a "new iPhone," which will go on sale on September 25.
