Reports have it that the release date of iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 is October 2014, which does not conflict Apple's timeframe for its tablets as we see in its history.

The upcoming tablets of the Cupertino-based tech company is said to come with a fingerprint sensor, Touch ID, iOS 8, a waterproof feature and the A8 processor.

Rumors suggest Apple will implement the Touch ID feature on all its flagship mobile devices, which include iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 and iPhone 6 in the lineup.

Despite sincere wishes by Apple faithful, WWDC 2014 will likely not feature the release of neither iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3 nor iPhone 6, with the event's focus appearing to be iOS 8 and OS X 10.10.

Despite strong rumors of "new hardware" showing up at Apple's annual event, it might not be an iPad or iPhone. Both the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 tablets are said to still be under development.

Lately, Apple is putting more emphasis on enhancing security with its fingerprint sensor, Touch ID, which makes enables convenient locking and unlocking of mobiles. Its current flagship smartphone, the iPhone 5, already has the feature, and it appears it will be carried over to the iPhone 6 as well.

However, Touch ID has yet to be introduced to the company's tablets – with iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 tablets being on the frontline of potentially receiving it.

Last year's WWDC featured the unveiling of iTunes Radio, a new MacBook Air, the new Mac Pro and iWork for iCloud. Since Apple has no specific word for this year's event, it looks like conference participants will be in for a few surprises.

Meanwhile, the current iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina are offered in stores with educational discounts.
