Many consider metal-bodied smartphones to be superior to those made of plastic. And among those metal-bodied devices, two that stand out the most are the iPhone 6s Plus and the HTC One M9. Here is how these two compare.

Design

The iPhone 6s Plus has been greatly improved compared to last year's version and now, its metal body is made from 7000 series aluminum, making it less susceptible to bending. It has a fingerprint scanner incorporated into its home button, comes with rounded corners and has four color options, gray, gold, rose gold and silver. As for the One M9, it does not have a fingerprint scanner but its metal body is similar to the iPhone as it also has rounded edges, which have been polished by hand. It comes in four color options as well, gold/silver combination, gold/pink combination, amber gold and gunmetal gray.

Display

The One M9 is the smaller device between the two. It has a 5.0-inch super LCD3 screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 441 pixels per inch. As for the iPhone 6s Plus, it has a 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch. The Apple device comes with 3D Touch pressure sensing technology, which discerns whether the user is pressing down hard or using a softer touch on the screen.

Specs

When it comes to hardware, the device from Apple has the latest Apple A9 chipset coupled with a dual core CPU clocked at 2 GHz. As for the One M9, it has the latest and fastest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, coupled with an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2 GHz along with an Adreno 430 GPU.

Memory

There is no memory slot on the iPhone 6s Plus but the One M9 has a version that supports up to 128 GB. As for RAM, the device from Apple reportedly has 2 GB while its competitor has 3 GB.

Camera

There is a 20-megapixel camera on the One M9 while the iPhone 6s Plus has a 12-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization.

Price

The iPhone 6s Plus with 16 GB of internal storage has a $299 price tag with a two year contract, while the HTC One M9 costs $199 with a similar contract.
