iPhone 8 specs rumors, news: Fast charging, Tap to Wake rumored to be on next-gen iPhone

(Apple)Apple's iPhone 8 is rumored to sport a major overhaul in design and features.

2017 is a big year for Apple, especially considering that it's the 10th year since the first generation of the iPhone was released. And to celebrate the momentous milestone, the Cupertino-based tech giant is apparently releasing three new iPhones this year instead of two.

This isn't new information to up-to-date fans since it has long been speculated that Apple is coming up with an iPhone 8 that will be released this year, alongside the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. Releasing s versions of the current-gen iPhones has long been a trend for the company, but it has been said that the upcoming iPhone 8 will be significantly different from its 7s counterparts — or from all previous iPhones for that matter.

And according to Forbes, two new features that will be present on the iPhone 8 have been leaked. These types of leaks are not surprising, and the validity has yet to be proven. But as with many leaks in the past, some have come true, while others have not.

The first feature rumored to be on the iPhone 8 is fast charging. However, the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus are also said to have the same feature. Of course, it has also been speculated that the iPhone 8 will come with wireless charging capabilities, apart from its overall better battery.

The second feature is a surprising one — Tap to Wake. To Android users, this may be nothing new. Tap to Wake has been utilized in a lot of Android devices, but has never made it to Apple products — until now. For those who are unaware, this feature allows users to see their notifications with just the tap on the screen. However, it should be noted that there are no concrete plans apparently laid out yet for this feature, so it can't be determined if Tap to Wake will only be present on the iPhone 8 or if it will make it to the 7s series.

Since nothing can be known for sure, readers should take this news with a grain of salt.
