iPod Touch 6G release date at MWC 2015? How can the music-player compete with iPhone 6?

Tech giant Apple still has to confirm (or deny) the possibility of launching the 6th generation iPod Touch this year. But even without an official statement from the Cupertino-based company, rumors are prevalent that a new version of the revolutionary music device is in the works.

Many believe that Apple is going to unveil the new iPod Touch this March, in time for the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. Christian Today reports that it's very likely that the new iPod Touch will finally be unveiled to the public during this big event. Not only that, the company is said to also be introducing the Apple Watch, a device that can greatly complement the new iPod.

The last time consumers got a taste of a new iPod Touch was two years ago, in September 2012. And if one is to consider the timeline Apple follows when releasing a new gadget, which is two years, then it's very likely that the new iPod Touch is coming to stores very, very soon.

But the question is how is this going to fare in the market?

As much as consumers enjoy the iPod Touch, the fact that it doesn't function as a smartphone could hurt its performance, especially since it hasn't been too long since Apple unveiled the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The iPod Touch is just a music device. Its sole purpose is to play music and videos and if someone would only be given one choice, the practical consumer would opt for the iPhone since it also plays music and does a lot of other things that the iPod doesn't.

So what would make people want to buy the new iPod Touch? Features. Two years provide more opportunity for the company to significantly improve the new iPod Touch. Reports say that the 6th generation is considered a fully-loaded entertainment device. It's also rumored to use the latest iOS operating system.

If Apple makes sure that the 6th generation iPod Touch has these and more, getting people to want it is certainly not going to be a problem.
