Jeremy Lin news: says his life purpose is to love Christ, love others

(Gary A. Vasquez / Reuters)Jeremy Lin (left) of the Los Angeles Lakers has failed to make an impact in Hollywood.

Jeremy "Linsanity" Lin was a hot commodity in 2012. However, with his rough year with the Los Angeles Lakers, sports critics are quick to claim that the fanfare surrounding the young basketball player was nothing but a fad. While some might disagree, the 27-year-old player has undeniably been instrumental in generating much needed positive publicity for the Lakers during one of its most disappointing seasons with star player, Kobe Bryant, unable to play because of an injury.

Despite this, Lin seems to be seeking better opportunities elsewhere. It was confirmed recently that the athlete has decided to transfer to another team – the Charlotte Hornets.

Despite his lackluster year, his new teammates still have confidence that Lin would be an essential part of their team this coming play-offs. In fact, reports claim that Lin is currently being groomed to be the team's starting point guard.

The Harvard alumnus has since broken his silence on his critics' harsh words about his career. In a recent update on his official website, Lin explains that he believes that all that matters is that he knows who to follow despite the low points in his career.

"I'm no different than you guys. I get discouraged, I get worn down, I get burnt out. I have doubts, thoughts of giving up, and of not being good enough. But the beautiful part is that God comes through in His unique and perfect way every time! Life isn't about maintaining your highs and eliminating your lows (because obstacles will inevitably come), Life is about cherishing your relationship with Christ and loving others through the highs and lows of life. I may not know where I'm going next, but I trust Who I'm following!!" read Lin's post.

The 2016 NBA play offs would commence on April 16, 2016. The finals is scheduled on June 2, 2016.
