After a solid campaign playing for the Charlotte Hornets this past year, Jeremy Lin has again become a player to look out for in free agency, though at this point, exactly where he will be playing at the start of next season is still a mystery.

Currently, Lin has a $2.2 million player option with the Charlotte Hornets that he could exercise should he decide that he wants to play for that same amount next season, though that is not expected to take place.

In a recent interview with the Charlotte Observer, Lin indicated that he does indeed plan to opt out of his current contract, though that doesn't necessarily mean that he will be leaving the Hornets.

Instead, Lin may be seeking a long-term deal that allows him to keep playing with a group of players and coaches who he credits with providing him with some of his fondest experiences as a basketball player.

Later in the interview, Lin makes it clear that he "definitely" wants to play with his current teammates, as well as for head coach Steve Clifford.

Considering the Hornets' cap and free agency situation, Lin going back to the team for the next season is far from guaranteed at this point, though it seems that he could have other options to consider.

For instance, with possible new head coach Jeff Hornacek in town, the New York Knicks may want to find a point guard who is capable of running the pick and roll effectively, while also maintaining a fast pace, a role that could be a good fit for the current Hornets guard, according to CBS Sports.

The Brooklyn Nets' hiring of new head coach Kenny Atkinson could also open up a potential spot for Lin on their roster.

As the New York Post noted, Lin has credited Atkinson for aiding in his initial rise in New York, and the 27-year-old point guard could eye a potential reunion if a deal with the Hornets can't be worked out.

For now, it's still hard to predict exactly where Jeremy Lin might end up, though at the very least, it appears that he will not be lacking for options to consider this coming summer.
