Jeremy Lin's inspirational YouTube video reveals impact of criticisms

Jeremy Lin's rise to NBA prominence was nothing short of phenomenal. But after a meteoric rise, the Asian-American's career appeared to have come to a standstill.

The 26-year-old has been struggling with his game ever since he transferred to the "Houston Rockets" and then to the "Los Angeles Lakers."  The last NBA season saw Lin's team hit the bottom with an abysmal franchise record of 61 losses, a far cry to how his team fared during the Linsanity days.

But the proudly Christian athlete seems to be turning things around, something that he shared in a two-minute inspirational YouTube video. Lin shares some parts of his life's story in the video, telling viewers that "It's easy to dream big. There's the initial excitement, raw passion, high hopes, and you put in everything you have to pursue your dream. But inevitably, the hits will come."

And the hits did come when he was not able to deliver during the last season. His disappointment soon led to self-doubt, especially when criticisms started coming his way. At one point, the ball player said that he even started to agree with his critics and thought "maybe I'll never be who I thought I would be."

But he realized that that was not the Christian way of life. He pulled himself out of his downward spiral and made himself a promise that he would work even harder. He focused on improving his weaknesses and building on his strength. He also renewed his commitment to God and to trust his Word and promises.

According to Lin, he decided to "trust Him to do what only He can do" while also working hard on his end so that he can say "I did everything in my power to become who God wants me to be."

His efforts and faith are starting to pay off. Lin is currently being courted by several NBA teams who want him to sign with them. The "Los Angeles Lakers" appear to want to retain Lin but the point guard is also fielding offers from the "Chicago Bulls," the "Indiana Pacers" and the "San Antonio Spurs."
