'Jurassic World 2' news: What we know about cast, plot and other movie details

Although "Jurassic World" director and co-writer Colin Trevorrow is set to direct another much anticipated movie, he has confirmed that he will continue co-writing the sequel. As for plot inspiration, he takes on one quote from the previous movie, "We're not always going to be the only ones who can make a dinosaur."

Genetically modified dinosaurs are scheduled to hit movie theatres on June 22, 2018. Two main protagonists have already signed on to reprise their roles: actor Chris Pratt will reprise his role as Owen Grady, a Velociraptor trainer at the park, and actress Bryce Dallas Howard will also reprise her role as the park's operations manager, Claire Dearing, as reported by Den of Geek.

Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum are speculated to return as well, as Alan Grant and Ian Malcolm, respectively, according to IMDb.

According to reports, the following actors/actresses with their corresponding characters have been enlisted: Omar Sy as Barry, Julianne Moore as Sarah Harding, Jake Johnson as Lowery Cruthers, Lauren Lakpus as Vivian Krill, Cameron Thor as Lewis Dodgson, Aasif Mandvi as Jacob Masrani, Jack Kennedy as Morton Vics, Steven McQueen as Jake Levine and Livia Milano as Mya Jones.

The movie will reportedly be set at a place called Isla Sorna, where two dinosaur hybrids are kept.

"It will not be just a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island. That'll get old real fast," Trevorrow said when asked about the sequel's plot. With a different island named, Trevorrow also shared to Wired, "I feel like the idea that this isn't always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment."

"Jurassic World 2" will still have Frank Marshall as its producer and critically acclaimed director Steven Spielberg as an executive producer.
