Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus release date, specs: Projector-free tablet coming in October

(Lenovo)This year's Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus, the follow-up to the Yoga Tab 3 Pro (pictured), is expected to arrive in October.

Lenovo shook the world of technology last year when it came out with the Yoga Tab 3 Pro, a tablet with a built-in projector that allowed for convenient video viewing. However, this year's addition to the Yoga Tab lineup, the Tab 3 Plus, has done away with the projector entirely.

Even though the projector feature of the unit was scrapped, the tablet still packs a huge punch when it comes to providing a good source of entertainment. The Yoga Tab 3 Plus, much like last year's model, has a kickstand that allows users to set the tablet upright on any flat surface at any given angle. The stand also comes with a hole in the middle, which makes it possible to hang the device from a hook.

This year's Tab 3 Plus is much cheaper, though, compared to the Tab 3 Pro, which was priced at $500. The expensive tag was perhaps due to the projector included in the tablet. Now without a projector, the Tab 3 Plus is $200 cheaper, starting at $300.

As for its build, the tablet is composed of metal, plastic and fake leather, and only comes in black. The screen measures about 10 inches with a pixel resolution of 1,600 x 2,560 and boasts a 2K display. According to GSMArena, under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 with an Adreno 510 GPU. It runs on Android Marshmallow out of the box. As for its memory, it comes with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, but also has a microSD card slot that can accommodate up to 256 GB.

It has two cameras: a 13-megapixel rear or main camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper. The unit also boasts a USB Type-C reversible connector and a battery capacity of 9,300 mAh that will supposedly last the user up to 18 hours of mixed usage. Its JBL speakers are quite noteworthy as well.

Lenovo's Yoga Tab 3 Plus is expected to arrive sometime in October.
