LG G Watch R vs. LG Watch Urbane: different design, similar features for these smartwatch siblings

Last year, LG brought out the sporty G Watch R. But now it seems like the company has decided to focus on improving the design as this year saw the release of the classy round smartwatch, the LG Watch Urbane. Here is how these two smartwatches compare.

Design

The Watch Urbane definitely has an edge when it comes to design as it has a round stainless steel body that comes in either silver or gold. There is a default 22 mm leather strap that comes with the watch but users who want a different strap need not fret as it can easily be swapped out and replaced with any standard 22 mm strap available in the market.

The G Watch R uses a combination of stainless steel and aluminum for its round body. Its back is made of plastic while its display comes with a black or silver rim. Just like the Watch Urbane, it also comes with the default leather strap which can be easily replaced with other standard 22 mm straps.

Both devices have an IP67 rating. They are dust resistant and waterproof, but can only be submerged in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes.

Display

The display of the G Watch R and the Watch Urbane are similar. Each measures 1.3 inches and have a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels and a density of 245 pixels.

Specs

Both devices are equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz. They come with with 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of onboard storage.

Sensors

Both devices do not have GPS onboard. In terms of sensors, each has a 9-Axis gyroscope, accelerometer, compass, barometer and heart rate monitor.

Battery

The Watch Urbane and Watch R 410 mAh batteries.

Price

The LG Watch Urbane is priced at $350 while the LG G Watch R has a price tag of $250.
