'Life Is Strange' final episode 'Polarized' has an unexpected ending; available now

Life is indeed strange and nothing captures that better than Dontnod Entertainment and Square Enix's episodic game, "Life Is Strange." With the series finally coming to an end, did the fifth and final episode successfully tie the pieces together
"Polarized" is the title of the last episode in the interactive graphic adventure, "Life Is Strange." Released last Oct. 20, episode five is expected to resolve the journey that Max Caulfied started January of this year. Episode four left a lot of gamers clamouring for the next episode right away, given that they were finally let in on the mysteries surrounding the dark room. With the game's protagonist left traumatised and grieving, one can only expect a surprising finale.
And "Life Is Strange" did not disappoint.
As IGN notes in their review, the final episode did well in not just driving straight to a conclusion but also rewinding a bit to recap what the time-traveler protagonist has been through so far. While it does that, it also adds new perspective to older episodes, which is a clever move, because it also preps the player as to how Max has changed since the beginning of the game.
Another brilliant thing about the finale is that it stays true to the game's theme of friendship and wraps it brilliantly with so much drama that has characterised the game in the past. It even steps up from that a bit, with a brilliant scene where the game highlights on Max looking back at her life and nitpicking on the good and bad parts.
But while the game is overall brilliant, it is not without criticism. The most obvious of which is the apparent shift to a negative perspective that rendered the game feeling slightly different. As IGN wrote in their review, it suddenly felt like two different stories thrown together with no apparent connection.
But it's not enough to abandon the episode altogether - especially if one has played all four episodes and is looking at a satisfying conclusion to the story. Because inasmuch as the shifting tone can be a little jarring, "Polarized" still came to a conclusion that may satisfy most gamers. It may not be what they expected it to be - spoiler-free warning: it's not a coming-of-age type of conclusion - but it is still a believable ending to a dramatic journey.
"Life Is Strange" episode is still available for download on the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
