MacBook Air 2016 release date: Notebook speculated to be out in Q3 of 2016

Apple's MacBook Air has been in the market for almost a decade and changes with the said device over the years are quite minimal.

It's been a year since the last speed adjustment was made and the ultra thin notebook's still using the Intel Broadwell chip rather than the faster Skylake variant.

Having said these, it is high time that a new MacBook Air is released. There are speculations going on that there will be numerous changes with the said device, one of which might include a 15-inch MacBook Air.

Apple tends to sneak out minor updates with small media attention, but if the MacBook 2016 will be launched with the updates consumers are expecting, Apple's chief executive officer, Tim Cook, will be making quite a news about it, probably at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) that will be held this month in California.

According to Economic Daily News, it is believed that the on-sale date for the MacBook Air 2016 will be in the third quarter of 2016.

However, Apple's current platform for the WWDC will tackle more on its operating systems like the iOS 10, watchOS, and tvOS. If they follow this, then it is probable that the MacBook Air 2016 will be released in September, which is the time frame the company uses in launching its other feature devices like the iPad and the iPhone.

If the notebook does come out, it will be priced at around $899 for the most basic variant, making it one of the cheapest notebooks from Apple. The move was due to the decline in sales of MacBook products and the weight Apple feels right now from its rivals.

Apple hopes that through this move, the company could win over consumers, but could also mean that the new MacBook Air will not carry the much-needed upgrades in keeping its prices at an affordable level.

Apple's WWDC will be held on June 13–17 in San Francisco, California.
