macOS Sierra 10.12.1 software update released, comes with leaked image of MacBook Pro OLED panel

(Reuters/Stephen Lam)Apple has just released the new macOS Sierra 10.12.1.

Apple has finally released the macOS Sierra 10.12.1. The software update has, up until now, only been available to developers and beta testers.

According to the company's release notes, the patch comes with a ton of fixes and features. Photos taken on the iPhone 7 Plus will go to an automatic smart album in Photos for Depth Effect. It also comes with a fix for incorrectly pasted text from the Universal Clipboard. Safari security has also been upped, and the Auto Unlock with Apple Watch has also been improved.

Additionally, the patch also fixes a few roadblocks when it comes to third-party applications. For instance, compatibility of Microsoft Office on the iCloud Desktop and Documents has been improved, as well as fixes the problem with Mail when updating from a Microsoft Exchange account. The issue with AOL accounts prompting the users to input unnecessary passwords in Mail has also been addressed.

The macOS Sierra 10.12.1 update also makes improvements on compatibility with Fujitsu's ScanSnap, fixes an issue with printing on Canon printers and opening Grapher files, and brings back a font size-related feature on Safari.

It is believed that the latest software update will arrive with new Apple offerings out of the box. At the Apple event scheduled today, Oct. 27, next-generation MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops are expected to be released.

The recent software update also came with a big surprise in the form of a leaked image of the upcoming MacBook Pro, particularly featuring the OLED panel that is expected to be placed above the keyboard. The OLED toolbar will offer support for the Apple Pay via Touch ID, and this leaked image ultimately confirms that the MacBook Pro will indeed come with the feature. Apart from that, the MacBook Pro 2016 is visually similar to previous models.

The macOS Sierra 10.12.1 patch update can be downloaded and installed through the App Store.
