Mario Kart 8 Mercedes-Benz DLC will arrive on Nintendo Wii U on August 27, 2014.

The trailer of the much-awaited Mercedes-Benz DLC features three cars from the German automobile brand: the brand new Mercedes-Benz GLA (the compact SUV), the legendary 1950s 300 SL Roadster (the dream sports car) and the 1930s W25 Silver Arrow (the formula one racing car).

The GLA is Mercedes-Benz's newest SUV offering and will in fact debut in this Mario Kart 8 DLC, while the two legendary cars 300 SL Roadster and W25 Silver Arrow are given proper tribute on the carmaker's official website:

"The roadster edition of the 300 SL (gull-wing) that enthralled celebrities around the world with it's innovative design! Debuting in 1954 with an impressive max speed of 250km/h, it's still loved by many and remains the most coveted classic car in the world!"

"Despite being over the permitted weight at the pre-race vehicle approval inspection, the W25 managed to join the races by stripping off its paintwork at the track. It went on to win the race and earned its legendary nickname, the Silver Arrow!"

Mercedes-Benz will also host a tournament for drivers to test out the new cars from August 27 to September 23.

Aside from the cool Mercedes-Benz cars, the software update will also include a driver's option to display the course map on the television screen, ability to check statistics such as win-loss record and character selection history and ability to change options on others' Mario Kart TV downloaded highlight reels.

Moreover, after each race, the driver will see the "Next Race" prompt followed by "Watch Highlight Reel" option.

Players should also expect enhancements on user experience and stability when playing online.

Mario Kart has been Nintendo's bread and butter for quite awhile now, with the eighth installment selling more than 2.8 million copies and was hailed as top grossing video game last June.
