Microsoft news: Surface Pro 4 release date delayed due to changes to device

(Reuters)

Microsoft is remaining mum about their next Surface Pro, so it is not surprising that rumors about what the next generation of the popular laptop-tablet hybrid would be like continue to be in overdrive.

According to ChristianityDaily, the new Surface Pro was supposed to be announced alongside the Windows 10 OS. However, new changes on the device itself have forced the company to delay its release to the public.

What are the possible new features?

iDigiTimes has reported that Microsoft has requested help from Samsung and has ordered 256GB SSD storage for their new "laplet." With a huge order from Microsoft, Samsung has been having trouble keeping up with the demand. Hence, the delay.

However, Latinopost has stated that Samsung has been up to date with their shipments and fans might see the new "Surface Pro 4" on October. If this were to happen, then it would come out around the same time Apple releases their new rumored iPad named the "iPad Pro." Master Herald was quick to report that this could have been Microsoft's plan all along since the new "Surface Pro 4" is expected to be a top competitor of the "iPad."

Here at Ecumenical News, it has also been reported that the new "Surface Pro" would feature the new "Windows 10" and might come with an "Intel Skylake" processor.

Chritiantoday speculates that the new device will not come with the auxiliary keyboard, though it might have two variants for its processor power, a dual-core i5 or i7. The "Surface Pro" might also come in two sizes, a 12-inch and a 14-inch display with 2160x1440 screen resolution.

The "Surface Pro 4" is said to be backed up by at least 4 GB of RAM and is expected to have a 5 megapixel back camera.

There is still no official word regarding the device which is speculated to be worth around $1200 to $2000.
