After it was rumored that Microsoft is coming up with its own smartphone to be called Surface Phone, the still-unconfirmed report may turn out to be a reality after all and not just a figment of the imagination.

According to reports, it is almost certain for Microsoft to unveil its Microsoft Surface Phone. Moreover, reports say that the company will be renewing its bid to penetrate the mobile phone market after its acquisition of Nokia phones resulted in huge losses.

As it is already public knowledge that the company has stopped selling the Nokia Lumia phones, which it eventually named simply as Microsoft Lumia later on, the company is allegedly bent on staging a return with new line of products that will be launched next year.

Rumor has it that the Microsoft Surface Phone will come in three variants: entry level, midrange model, and the premium. Its entry level is said to be packed with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor plus 3 GB of random access memory (RAM). On the other hand, the midrange model will boast of a 6 GB of RAM. Of course, being the top-of-the-line model, the premium variant will boast not only 8 GB of RAM but 512 GB of built-in storage, too.

While the alleged Microsoft Surface Phone is a product of Microsoft, there are rumors claiming that it will not run on Windows but on Android instead. This speculation came about after it was reported that the supposed device will have an overclocked Snapdragon 821 processor, which means its central processing unit (CPU) will have an ARM (Advanced RISC Machine) that is incompatible with Windows apps.

For Android Origin, though, this speculation seems to be insensible, given that Microsoft is, allegedly, aiming to market its upcoming rumored phone to the enterprise-related customers that, more often than not, require Windows support.

If the rumor claiming that Microsost Surface Phone is already in the pipeline is true, it may take a while before the device will land on the hands of gadget fanatics as Microsoft's newest line of phones will not be released earlier than 2017, supposedly.
