Amidst a never ending stream of rumors about the next device in the Surface Pro lineup, a source in the supply chain for the device has revealed that Microsoft has placed an order for SSDs from Samsung which indicate that the device is close to being launched in October.

Microsoft, however, has not made any news about the Surface Pro 4 official but the Internet is alight with rumors pointing toward a possible launch during the IFA 2015 show in September. This particular show, which is scheduled to take place in Berlin, Germany, is going to play host to a Microsoft event with the title "Windows 10 Lights up New Devices," and many expect the devices being referred to will include mobile devices and the new Surface Pro 4.

As for the other devices being showcased on Sept. 4, all will come with the Windows 10 as their operating system and many expect new notebooks and gaming related devices to be included. After the launch of the Surface Pro 4 is the expectation that it will be shipped in October with the latest Skylake processor created by Intel.

With the market for tablets slowing down over the years, it is no surprise that Microsoft is cautious about updating its laptop/tablet lineup. However, the company has seen its Surface Pro line grow in popularity over the years. Now, there are indications that it was able to ship between 200,000 to 250,000 units of the Surface Pro 3 per month in the first three months of this year.

This is one reason why Microsoft also released the Surface 3 earlier this year and has been shipping 300,000 units of both devices per month since then. However, all attention now is focused on the launch of the Windows 10, which happened just a few days ago. And many expect that Microsoft will launch the Surface Pro 4 soon to go along with its new operating system.
