Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date, specs rumors: Tablet with improved battery life to be released in Q4 2016 ?

(Microsoft)Surface Book and Surface Pro 4

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is still considered fresh from its release since the device came out in October last year. Now, rumors are pointing at the next Surface Pro, which is believed to be a much better version of Surface Pro 4.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will reportedly be released in October this year, according to several media outlets. According to Yibada, it is likely that the next device will be released at that time because Microsoft is already offering discounts on other Surface products. When the new device comes out, it is also said to cost about $900 as the base price, with it likely to go up to $1,500.

Meanwhile, Surface Pro 5 is said to be a more improved version of the Surface Pro 4. The Surface Pro 4 is marketed as a device that can withstand nine hours of battery usage. However, to the disappointment of consumers, the tablet can only last less than three hours, with the battery continuously draining while the tablet goes on sleep mode.

However, Inquisitr gathered that the Sleep Mode issue has been addressed but still, the battery problem of the Surface Pro 4 remains. Consumers can only hope that the next Surface tablet will be slightly bigger than its predecessor so it can carry a larger and more powerful battery.

On the internal side of the device, Release Date Portal speculates that the Surface Pro 5 may come in two variants: a 12.3-inch and a 13.3-inch tablet. The upcoming device is believed to offer a 2738 x 1824 display resolution. Other reports also suggest that the Surface Pro 5 will come with a 4K display.

The device will reportedly come pre-loaded with a Windows 10.1 Pro operating system (OS) and will run on a sixth generation Skylake processor or a seventh generation Cannonlake processor. It will also be offered in 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB variants, coupled with 128, 256, 512 GB, and 1 TB storage options.

So far, none of these have been confirmed so it is best to take these speculations with a grain of salt.
