NetherRealm will reveal the latest roster of Mortal Kombat X fighters at the EVO 2014 event during the grand finale slated for Saturday, July 12th.

The game studio's teaser says:

Speculations abound after the showing off teaser.

IGN's Mike Mahardy thinks that the quote hints of the addition of Raiden, one of a handful of immortal characters from the Mortal Kombat lore.

As the countdown to the Mortal Kombat X release date continues, players are trying to figure out which character will join the cast of the game.

So far, there are six confirmed fighters for the most thrilling installment of the series: Cassie Cage, D'Vorah, Ferra & Torr, Kotal Kahn, Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

In fact, a preview video of the gameplay shows off Scorion and Sub-Zero.

For the first time, Mortal Kombat will offer players the liberty to access multiple variations of each character that could impact the strategy and fighting style.

Along with the fully connected gameplay experience, players are given the opportunity to join online contests and achieve global battle supremacy.

Mortal Kombat X is scheduled for a 2015 release date on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC, but players can already pre-order the game at any of the following retail stores: Amazon.com, Best Buy, GameStop, Newegg, Target and Walmart.

The biggest annual game tournament series, EVO 2014, kicks off on July 11th and ends on July 14th at the LVH Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Outside the video game, it has been confirmed that a movie adaptation of "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" Season 3 is in the works.

Inquisitr reports that Mortal Kombat director Kevin Tancharoen (also known from "Glee 3D" and "Fame") briefly discussed about their plans of bringing the mega hit fighting game to the big screen once again.

"I'm starting to talk to Warner Bros. and the video game creators, so hopefully we can see it through.... With 'Legacy' Season 1, it was kind of a big experiment. No one has done it before, and we didn't know if should be an anthology or connected. We did the first one as an anthology and the second one more serialized. In the future, it will definitely be more connected and more cohesive... We all feel right now that we have such a trajectory to the series. There are so many more stories to tell in that format," he said.
