Following series of user reviews of poor battery life performance, Motorola has boosted the power of Moto 360 with an update.

Owners of the Android Wear-powered smartwatch have complained about battery draining before even half a day passed.

With the update, power can now last up to 13 hours even after rigorous use.

Droid Life has tested the new smartwatch and found dramatic improvements.

"So what did we find? In two days of testing with Ambient Mode turned 'on,' I was able to take my Moto 360 off the charger in the morning and carry on for a full 13 hours before it warned me about an impending battery death. And keep in mind that I was trying to use the 360 as much as possible, to really put it through its paces," the report said.

The Moto 360 has received mostly rave reviews from pundits and from those who have purchased it since it was launched on Sept. 5.

"In terms of design and overall appeal, the Motorola Moto 360 leads the way for Android watches. This is a smartwatch that's desirable for other reasons than just its status as a hi-tech bauble: it looks great in silver or black, and it's comfortable to wear for long periods," PC Pro review writes.

Gordon Kelly of Forbes even dubbed it as "Google's biggest Apple Watch rival."

"In the Moto 360 I've seen the future of wearables. It is visually stunning, great on the wrist, I feel a million dollars wearing it in public and Android Wear is extremely promising if still very raw. Motorola has got all the difficult stuff right, which is why it pains me to say the company has dropped the ball with the easy bit," Kelly writes.

Moto 360 has gone up against Samsung Gear Live and LG G smartwatch, and proven to be a solid piece of hardware to best.

However, many believe that the real competition will arrive with the release of Apple Watch in early 2015.
