Moto X 2017 release date, news, updates: The launch date may be closer than expected

(Facebook/Moto)Motorola remains a key player in the mobile phone industry.

The mobile phone industry is a tough world to be in, thus phones that do not come to be are not new. There were already rumors that development for the Moto X has ceased, but all those speculations were shot down recently.

Techroider got a tip from an anonymous user showing screen captures of what could possibly be either a prototype or the actual design of the upcoming Moto X. The partnership between Motorola and Lenovo has not ended; instead, they have been working silently behind closed doors. From the looks of the leaked photo, it appears the team-up is going well.

The device is seen as an all-metal phone, sporting a silver casing with what looks like a 5.5-inch screen. If one will consider previous models, the new Moto X could also be available in gold variants and a front fingerprint scanner for added security.

According to other sources, the new phone will carry a separate camera feature at the rear side. It could possibly sport a dual LED flash when it comes to the camera design, and hopefully a unique zoom-in feature that is not present in other devices in the market.

The rumors are to be taken with a grain of salt, of course, although it will be enticing to see the phone finally arrive in markets. The line has been known to boast quality performance for a more affordable rate, thus it creates a niche for itself.

There have been rumors floating around that the Moto X project won't be coming to fruition, so it is reassuring to fans of the brand to see a leaked image, even if it is unconfirmed as of the moment. Reports also say that the company has released a statement, saying that the development is pushing through as planned, and is "alive and well."

The Moto X is expected to hit the stores by early 2017.
