Motorola Moto G (3 Gen) release date, specs, features, price: accidental listing appears on retailer's website with specifications

Motorola's exclusive Indian e-commerce affiliate Flipkart accidentally listed the yet-to-be announced Moto G (Gen 3) on its website, revealing some specifications of the upcoming smartphone. The webpage was taken down after a short time, but not before technology websites managed to quickly take screen-shots of the website. Motorola had launched the Moto G first generation smartphone in December 2013, followed by the release of the second generation model in September 2014.

Just recently, a Reddit user had posted the model numbers of new Motorola devices being tested, out of which one could be the 3rd generation Moto G. The Reddit user claimed to have discovered three new Android smartphones in his "analytics system", going by the model numbers XT1578, XT1585, and XT192A. All the three devices originated in Chicago, where the U.S. company's headquarters is based, and reportedly run Android 5.1 with 2K Quad HD displays, and were being tested on Verizon Wireless' network. Some believe that the three handsets could be next-gen Motorola devices for 2015 — the Moto E, Moto G, and Moto X.

There are speculations are that the third generation Moto G will receive a more powerful upgrade than its second generation predecessor. Rumors suggest that the Moto G (Gen 3) smartphone will feature a 5-inch or 5.2-inch 1080p display and will be powered by a 64-bit 1.7GHz Snapdragon 610 SoC quad-core processor, paired with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The Moto G (Gen 3) is expected to offer 8GB of inbuilt memory with LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options, and will run on the latest version of Android Lollipop out-of-the-box.

Amidst all the uncertainty surrounding the release date of Moto G (Gen 3), Indian retailer Flipkart accidentally listed the smartphone online on its website, only to take it down quickly. The listing was not accompanied by any images and the only information provided was that upcoming Moto G (Gen 3) with model number AP3560AD1K8 would be available in 8 GB and white color option.

While Motorola has not made any official announcement regarding the release date of Moto G (Gen 3), the smartphone is speculated to be rolled out sometime in June or July.
