Motorola Moto G (3rd-Gen) could land July with octa-core chip and 1080p display

Rumors about the impending launch of the Moto G (3rd-Gen) have been heating up after Lenovo had announced last week that it would be launching the first devices bearing the Moto brand name since officially taking over Motorola. New reports now claim that the Moto G 2015 is most likely to be released in July.

A couple of months ago, a Reddit user had claimed to have discovered three new Android smartphones being tested on Verizon Wireless' network originating in Chicago, where Motorola's headquarters is based. The three handsets were believed to be the next-gen Motorola devices for 2015 — the Moto E, Moto G, and Moto X. Last month, Motorola's exclusive Indian e-commerce affiliate Flipkart had accidentally listed the yet-to-be announced Moto G (Gen 3) on its website, but had only revealed that the smartphone bearing model number AP3560AD1K8 would be available in 8 GB and white color option.

Rumors suggest that the Moto G 2015 smartphone will feature a 5-inch or 5.2-inch 1080p display and will be powered by a 64-bit 1.7GHz Snapdragon 610 SoC quad-core processor, paired with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The Moto G (Gen 3) is expected to offer 8GB of inbuilt memory with LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options, and will run on the latest version of Android Lollipop out-of-the-box.

Motorola had launched the Moto G first generation smartphone in December 2013, followed by the release of the second generation model ten months later in September 2014. Motorola has been expected to follow the same annual refresh cycle for its flagship Moto G this year as well, which led to reports of the Moto G (3rd-Gen) possibly hitting the shelves by the end of 2015.

However, the latest reports now claim that the Moto G 2015 will be released earlier in July and will receive a more powerful upgrade than its second generation predecessor. The reports also confirm the earlier rumored specifications of the Moto G (3rd-Gen), including a 5-inch/5.2-inch 1080p display, 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 processor, 2 GB RAM, a 16 MP camera, and 4G LTE, HSPA, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB connectivity.

Motorola has not yet made any official announcement about the third generation Moto G. Stay tuned for the latest news, announcements, and rumors about the upcoming Moto G (3rd-Gen).
