Kevin Durant is the big fish in this year's free agent pond, but since there's only one of him to go around, other teams may have to look in another direction if they are looking to improve, making Pau Gasol a potentially interesting addition for some teams.

Currently, two teams who are pursuing Durant could turn into contenders to sign Gasol and they happen to be the two squads who put up the best records in the Western Conference last season.

Both the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs would benefit greatly from adding Durant to the roster, though Gasol would be quite the noteworthy addition as well.

For the Warriors, Gasol could turn into their first big man who comes off the bench and with his array of offensive talents, he can really bolster the team's bench unit.

According to a recent report from ESPN, Gasol would indeed be one of the free agent big men that the Warriors will consider adding should they be unable to land Durant.

As for the Spurs, they too would seem to be a good home for Gasol.

Gasol's deft passing could be an ideal fit within an active Spurs attack, and his low post scoring could come in handy against faster and more athletic teams.

Gasol has also previously expressed interest in joining the Spurs during an earlier interview with the Spanish newspaper Marca, so it would seem that the San Antonio-based team may have an edge over the former NBA All-Star's other potential suitors.

Durant may be the ideal get for both the Spurs and the Warriors, though either team would also do well to acquire a big man as skilled as Gasol.

At this stage of his career, Pau Gasol may not be the same All-Star caliber force on the court that he used to be, but as a fallback option for some teams, he can be a pretty good consolation prize.
