NBA trade rumors 2016: 76ers' Jahlil Okafor to Blazers?

Before the Portland Trail Blazers accomplished roster moves during the off-season, some saw them needing a prominent big man. A possible deal with the Philadelphia 76ers could fill that space for them.

In a potential swap, the Blazers are getting Jahlil Okafor and Nik Stauskas. They are then sending to Philly Al-Farouq Aminu, Ed Davis, Noah Vonleh with 2017 and 2018 first-round picks.

At first glance, this seems unfair for the Blazers since they are unloading a lot just to land Okafor and Stauskas. However, it might make sense for both parties in the long run.

With Okafor, the Blazers addressed the problem mentioned earlier. Along with this, he is not just a center but a young one who will still develop. He may have faced off-court issues last season but his great potential is undeniable. Together with All-Star Damian Lillard and Most Improved Player C.J. McCollum, the 20-year-old is among the future of the franchise.

Okafor also gives Portland a group of quality players at the no. 5 position as he joins Festus Ezeli, Meyers Leonard and Mason Plumlee.

Meanwhile, Stauskas will make what is already a good backcourt for Portland better. The Canadian guard can play both the no. 1 and 2 positions. He is also coming off his best season yet and has great momentum. Because of his versatility, he will be an excellent bench piece for Rip City.

For the 76ers, this deal will benefit them as they continue rebuilding. Aminu and Davis are young veterans whose experiences are important to the team's young core. Vonleh is a developing talent who in the future can be used as a trade piece.

The future selections are big for Philadelphia since this allows them to land other top prospects who will help them end their struggles that have been going on for years now.
