NBA trade rumors 2016: Pistons aiming for the Pacers' Paul George?

Paul George is an untouchable for the Indiana Pacers. But if there is a team that will try to nab him, it might be the Detroit Pistons who are having a resurgence which started last season.

In the 2015-16 season, Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson led the Pistons to be the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. They made it to the playoffs and ended a drought that had lasted for six years.

Detroit was swept by eventual champions the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the postseason. Still, it was a good outing for the team which is slowly recapturing its old form.

However, some see the Pistons as needing another star who will help them break the barrier of mediocrity so they can again be title contenders.

In a possible trade scenario, the player the Pistons are gunning for is George.

George is an established star in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and is the face of the franchise for Indiana. It is impossible for the Pacers to part ways with him anytime soon. It was even believed that they are already discussing an extension deal with him.

However, in a suggestion, the Pistons are giving the Pacers Stanley Johnson, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope plus future picks (first-rounder, second-rounder) to land George.

This could be an easy rejection for the Pacers. Both Caldwell-Pope and Johnson are young developing talents but it is a huge risk sacrificing a franchise star.

However, if it happens, the Pistons may be back to their glory days. George, together with Drummond and Jackson, might lead the team to a deeper run in the playoffs and perhaps an NBA Finals appearance in the future.

This is interesting but as mentioned, it is too risky for the Pacers. The Pistons are the clear winners of this swap if it happens.
