The chase for a fifth Super Bowl continues for the New England Patriots and they will do it with their best passer as franchise quarterback Tom Brady agreed to a two-year extension deal.

Brady still has two years in his existing contract and the extension means he will be donning the Patriots jersey until the 2019 season.

In a report by ESPN, it was mentioned that Brady has not signed the new deal yet and it might take some time before he does.

Still, it is a major move for New England to lock arguably its best player after another splendid season.

The Pats failed to defend their championship in the previous season, but they were one of the teams that began their campaign unbeaten.

New England rolled to a 10–0 start before falling to the Denver Broncos in overtime during a Week 12 matchup.

Injuries were also present for the Pats who saw a number of key offensive and defensive players go down.

Heading to the playoffs, the Patriots were second in the American Football Conference (AFC) and reached the conference championship.

Unfortunately, they just could not overcome the Broncos who went on to win Super Bowl 50.

Brady was present all throughout the Patriots' Super Bowl chase, playing 16 games in the regular season, completing 402-of-624 passes for 4,770 yards and 36 touchdowns, throwing seven interceptions.

Last season was the seventh consecutive year that the three-time Super Bowl winner played a full season.

In his 13th playoff appearance, Brady and the Pats took on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Playoffs and the Broncos in the AFC Championship Game.

During those two postseason outings, Brady had 55 completions for 612 yards and three touchdowns, throwing only two interceptions.

Now that Brady agreed to the extension, there is no need for the Patriots to worry regarding their quarterbacks since backup Jimmy Garoppolo is signed until 2017, ESPN reported.
