An offensive weapon stays with the New England Patriots for at least another season as running back LeGarrette Blount was rewarded a one-year deal after a successful outing in the 2015 season despite a major injury.

NFL Network's Albert Breer mentioned in a tweet that according to a source, Blount's new contract with the Patriots has a $760,000 base salary, with a $100,000 signing bonus, $100,000 roster bonus, and $1 million worth of incentives.

Blount is coming off a great 2015 season which was cut short by a left hip injury. Because of the health setback, he only saw action in 12 regular season games (six starts) and missed the Pats' playoff campaign. Despite being limited, he still had 165 carries for 703 yards (team-leading) and six touchdowns. The 29-year-old veteran would have had the chance to set new career-bests if he did not get hurt.

The upcoming 2016 season will be Blount's fourth run in New England. His first stint with the team was in 2013 when he was traded from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After his first season with the Pats, he decided to try his luck with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2014 season but it did not last long, and he returned to New England during the same season. Since then, he has been a Patriot and again has the chance to do his best, helping the franchise capture another Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Last season, despite dealing with the injury bug, the Patriots still ended the regular season on top of the American Football Conference (AFC) East and second overall in the conference, behind the Denver Broncos.

The Pats defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Playoffs to reach the AFC Championship Game were they faced Denver, and that matchup ended their season. Retired quarterback Peyton Manning and the Broncos would go on to win Super Bowl 50 versus the Carolina Panthers.
