It is one busy off-season for the New England Patriots, who were again involved in a trade deal Thursday, receiving former Pro Bowl tight end Martellus Bennet from the Chicago Bears in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick.

Bennett is a quality pickup for the Pats, who were plagued by injuries last season which may have affected their title defense.

The 29-year-old was the second-round pick (61st overall) by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2008 National Football League (NFL) Draft. He spent his first four seasons with the Cowboys before joining the New York Giants for one season. In 2013, he signed with the Bears and stayed there until last season.

Bennett truly shined with the Bears, having the best year of his career during the 2014 season, which led to him earning his first and only Pro Bowl selection so far.

In the 2015 season, his last year playing for Chicago, Bennett suffered a rib injury which limited him to only 11 games (all starts), having 53 receptions for 439 yards and three touchdowns.

Now, the former Texas A&M standout is part of a successful organization and, in a conference call, shared his excitement of playing alongside Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski.

"I think Gronk has always been an awesome tight end, and I look forward to learning more from him," Bennett shared with reporters according to ESPN

"There are some things that he does that I don't do, and I'm pretty sure there are a lot of things that I do that he doesn't do. So it will be a good challenge to push each other and continue to help us grow as individual players as well as a tandem, to do whatever we can to help the team," Bennett also discussed.

Bennett still has a year remaining in his deal before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2017. If he impresses the Pats organization this 2016 season, there is a chance he might be signing a long-term deal next year.
