New York Comic-Con 2014 tickets sold like hotcakes, but there is good news for those who were unlucky to snatch one – a Cosplay contest.

"Do you have what it takes to save the world from mayhem? Prove it when you attend the first installment of NYCC Presents...Heroes! Come dressed to conquer evil and take part in the Heroes Costume Contest for a chance to win tickets to NYCC," said the teaser of New York Comic-Con Presents Heroes.

For those who are not into cosplay or dressing up in those tight superhero suits, you can also submit an entry for the hero-themed drawing competition and still win tickets for the NYCC 2014.

The competition will be held at Rockbar NYC on Sept. 5, with special guests Fred Van Lente, Greg Pak and Cory Smith.

The New York Comic-Con 2014 will continue to be a Cosplaying hub as they host one of the grandest competition of its kind, the NYCC Eastern Championships of Cosplay.

"ReedPOP, the world's leading producer of pop culture events, announces the debut of a new Cosplay championship at this year's New York Comic Con (NYCC). The inaugural NYCC Eastern Championships of Cosplay will be the biggest and most prestigious costume contest on the East Coast and will serve as the first stop in the 'Quest for the Crown,' a new Cosplay competition circuit that celebrates the very best in Cosplay design from all over the world," according to the official press release.

The complete mechanics of the contest is listed on the official website for the annual event.

New York Comic-Con 2014 tickets went on sale last June, but many people were unable to purchase tickets due to a system downtime, which led to disappointed would-be-attendees ranting on Facebook and Twitter.

The annual convention will be held at Javits Center in New York City, October 9-12, 2014.
