In terms of size, the Nexus 6 from Google stands head and shoulder above the rest, but since its release last year, a lot more smaller devices with smaller frames, remarkable designs and impressive specs have managed to overtake it. And one of those devices is the HTC One M9.

Design

The One M9 certainly has the look and feel of a high end phone. It comes with a metal unibody with curved edges and has an attractive sheen. All of these elements, which are pretty similar to what was present on the One M8, are what made the One M9 one of the most beatiful phones of the year. The Nexus 6, on the other hand, is made of plastic and the only premium element on it is the metal band that runs along its edge. In terms of colors, the Nexus 6 is available in blue and white while the One M9 comes in gunmetal grey, amber gold, a silver and gold combination and a gold and pink combination.

Display

The display on the Nexus 6 is much bigger and sharper than the version available on the One M9. The device from Google has an AMOLED screen measuring 5.96 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 493 pixels per inch while the One M9 has a super LCD3 screen measuring 5.0 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 441 pixels per inch.

Specs

Comparing their hardware, the One M9 is an outright winner as it has the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, an octa-core CPU comprised of four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2 GHz and an Adreno 430 GPU. On the Nexus 6 is an older Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, a Krait 450 CPU with four cores clocked at 2.7 GHz and an Adreno 420 GPU.

Memory

The Nexus 6 does not have a memory slot, so users will have to settle with the internal memory that it comes with. The One M9 comes with a memory slot, which allows for the expansion of external storage of up to 128 GB. In terms of RAM, both have 3 GB each.

Camera

The Nexus 6 is equipped with a 13 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization. The One M9 offers a camera with 20 megapixels, though it does not have optical image stabilization.

Price

The Nexus 6 costs $249 with a two-year contract while the HTC One M9 is priced at $199 with a similar contract.
