Nexus 6P vs BlackBerry Priv: The Nexus 6P is the faster device

BlackBerry has long been associated with smartphones that come with physical keyboards and this year it brought out the first device running Android the Priv. However, the Nexus 6P is going to be its top competitor as it is better looking and here is how these two devices fare in a comparison.

Design

Comparing design, the Nexus 6P comes with a premium metal body with rounded corners. As for its back panel it has a fingerprint scanner but its camera is enclosed in a strip of glass that protrudes from the rest of the body. Coming to colors, there are three on offer frost, aluminum and graphite. The BlackBerry Priv on the other hand only has metal on its frame while its back panel features fiberglass with a coating on top. There is also a curved screen on the device and one edge can be customized by the user to provide quick access to apps and notifications. However, the outstanding feature is its physical keyboard which can be slid under the screen when it is not in use. As for colors the device only comes in black and does not have a fingerprint scanner.

Display

There is a 5.4 inch AMOLED screen on the BlackBerry Priv and it has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, with a density of 540 pixels per inch. As for the Nexus 6P it has an AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 518 pixels per inch.

Specs

Onboard the Nexus 6P is the faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and it is coupled with an octa-core CPU and an Adreno 430 GPU. As for the BlackBerry Priv it has Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset coupled with a hexa-core CPU and an Adreno 418 GPU.

Memory

As the Nexus 6P has no memory slot, external storage cannot be added while the slot on the BlackBerry Priv supports up to 200 GB. Coming to RAM, each device has 3 GB onboard.

Camera

The 12 megapixel camera on the Nexus 6P is ranked at the number three spot on DxOMark while the 18 megapixel camera on the BlackBerry Priv has not been rated.

Price

With a two year contract the BlackBerry Priv costs $250 while the Nexus 6P has a $500 price tag unlocked.
