Nintendo has already confirmed the existence of its highly rumored Nintendo NX, which will be released in March 2017. Apart from its release date, the Japanese gaming company has remained quiet about other details.

However, a new report suggests that the company might just push back this release date due to the delay of the gaming device's mass production.

According to Digitimes, Nintendo NX's mass production will begin sometime in early 2017. Originally, the company was expected to start with their mass production by mid-2016. The publication's sources pointed out that this delay was a result of Nintendo's plan to improve the gaming experience of the upcoming device.

Also, Nintendo is said to have reduced its order volume for the console. Originally, the company wanted to order 20 million units for its first year, but that number has now been reduced to 9.5-10 million units.

In addition, the report states that Nintendo is also working to include a virtual reality (VR) feature into the gaming system, which could also have contributed to the delay. The VR feature is believed to ensure that the device can compete in the industry.

The sources also gave hints about what the NX could be physically. According to the report, NX is both a video game and mobile game device that has a screen display measuring five to seven inches, a controller and a joystick. At the same time, the device can also be connected to a TV to turn it into a home video game device.

If this report proves to be true, there's a possibility that NX won't meet the target of a March 2017 release. Regardless, this report still needs to be taken with a pinch of salt since Nintendo hasn't officially said anything about their next generation gaming console.

Fans won't even learn more about the NX at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 as Nintendo already made it clear there wouldn't be any announcement during the event regarding the device .

"NX will not make an appearance at the upcoming E3 video game trade show in Los Angeles in June and will be unveiled later this year," the company wrote in a post in April.

Rumor has it that the company might unveil the device at the 2016 Tokyo Game Show.
