Aside from the much-anticipated consoles of PlayStation NEO from Sony and Xbox One S from technology vendor Microsoft, Nintendo is also cooking up something in the form of the Nintendo NX. However, the supposed 2016 launch was bogged down due to some technical reasons.

"Super Mario Bros." and "Legend of Zelda" creator Shigeru Miyamoto described one of the reasons as to why Nintendo decided on a 2017 bump of the gaming console's reveal.

According to reports, Miyamoto stated that they've come up with a new feature for the upcoming Nintendo NX and they are currently working to incorporate it into the console. However, he added that they can't spill the beans yet to the public.

Now that it's clear that they are adding something big to their forthcoming console, some analysts say that the latest timeframe for the device's release might not be met yet again.

Furthermore, Nintendo fans are already guessing what this new feature is that kept the Nintendo NX from being released this year. Some speculate that the next Nintendo console will have a virtual or augmented reality feature just like the PlayStation VR since the gaming company has expressed that they're open to the idea of having a VR feature added into the Nintendo NX.

Nevertheless, Nintendo of America's president and chief operating officer Reginald Fils-Aimé smothered the VR feature speculations and explained that the forthcoming gaming platform must be established and well-accepted by consumers first before they venture again into the mentioned virtual reality option.

Moreover, as far as gamers can remember, Nintendo had released way back in 1995 a VR game console named "Virtual Boy" that unfortunately became a commercial flop even though the company had already dropped its price.

The forthcoming Nintendo NX is expected to be unveiled in the first quarter of 2017, probably at around March.
