NVIDIA GTX 1060 GPU release date July 19; more power-efficient compared to closest rival

(GeForce)The NVIDIA GTX 1060 will be released on July 19 and will have a starting price of 9.

GPU manufacturer NVIDIA has finally answered Advanced Micro Device's (AMD) recently released Radeon RX 480 graphics processing unit by announcing that they will be presenting the GTX 1060 graphics card. The latest offering from NVIDIA claims that it will be equally well-built as the AMD Radeon RX 480, but with lesser power consumption.

The new card will be globally launched this July 19, having a price tag starting at $249, with partner tech companies making their own versions of the new GTX GPU that will best suit their devices.

Moreover, the GPU will be lodged with the latest GP106 chip as compared to the GTX 1080 and 1070 cards which carry an older version of the chip.

NVIDIA has said that it will focus mainly on people who prefer affordability without compromising the product's quality. The California-based company added that their latest GPU will be 15 percent quicker and they claim that its power efficiency is 75 percent better in comparison to its closest rival, which is obviously referring to the AMD Radeon RX 480.

It is expected that with the release of this GPU from NVIDIA, technology websites will definitely put it head on with its AMD counterpart and will run tests to both cards. Tech enthusiasts, on the other hand, will just have to wait for the results to be posted on the web in the days to come.

Furthermore, NVIDIA revealed that Ansel will be available for games like "Mirror's Edge: Catalyst" and "The Witcher 3" this month. It is said that Ansel is a feature that the company has devised to produce clear and crisp screen captures during gameplay.

In the meantime, as previously reported, the AMD Radeon RX 480 is having some power consumption issues that could potentially damage most of the PC's components. But AMD has already released a statement saying that they will be working on a driver that would eventually resolve the power issue of the RX 480.
