The second season of "Outlander" — a time-traveling historical drama that is based on Diana Gabaldon's book series — is set to premiere on April 9, 2016, and Starz network has recently released its full trailer.

The promotional video shows Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall Fraser (Caitriona Balfe), fall back in time from the Highlands of Scotland to 1700s France to help save the Scottish culture.

The couple will try to stop the Battle of Culloden where Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Andrew Gower) and a number of Scottish tribes tried to reclaim the English throne but failed and were all defeated.

Aside from the riveting storyline, the upcoming season will portray the high-class fashion and lavish lifestyle of French society. The fashion couture of the upper class Paris is shown in the series' new poster in which Claire is dressed in a voluminous red couture dress and Jamie in very Frenchman long coat.

Speaking with PeopleStyle, on-set costume designer Terry Dresbach revealed the female protagonist's style evolution. "It was very different in Scotland. We did skirts and bodices because we needed to give [Claire] as much mileage out of as few clothes as possible," the fashion designer revealed.

"But in the 18th century, a wealthy person would change their clothes multiple times in a day... We really play with the idea that everything was about fashion for the wealthy — not for the poor."

But what made people talking is the scarlet-colored dress Balfe wore on the poster in which her character, Claire, and Jamie will have a meeting with King Louis XV at the Palace of Versailles.

Dresbach described it as "scandalous, powerful and sensual." She admitted, though, that finding the perfect shade of red proved to be the most difficult task in making the dress possible.

"But we did! It was remarkable, it's a beautiful red, it's a classic, classic red. It's a Valentino red, it's a Givenchy red, it's a fashion red," she exclaimed.

"Outlander" season 2 airs on April 9 at 9 p.m. on Starz.
