With very little official information available about the upcoming PlayStation 4 Neo, gamers and analysts have been trawling through rumors to get more details about it. In a recent batch of news that arrived about the console, another one, the PlayStation 4 Slim, was mentioned and it is thought that both these consoles will be showcased during an upcoming gaming event.

The latest news about the PlayStation 4 Slim and its sibling, the PlayStation 4 Neo, arrived via a trusted source, The Wall Street Journal. It stated that these two consoles were mentioned by an analyst named Damian Thong, who works for Macquarie Securities, who outlined that Sony might actually be releasing these two consoles at an upcoming gaming event. The particular event mentioned by Thong is the Tokyo Game Show (TGS) which is scheduled to be held in September of this year.

Many were expecting Sony to showcase the upcoming PlayStation 4 Neo console at the recently concluded E3 2016 gaming exposition but the company did not. However, a few days before the exposition kicked off in June, Sony confirmed that it had the PlayStation 4 Neo in development and it would be released soon. Aside from that, there was no official indication that a PlayStation 4 Slim was in development.

Meanwhile Microsoft announced that it has two consoles, the Xbox One S and Project Scorpio, in development during E3 2016 and it is therefore likely that Sony wants to bring out something similar but with better hardware. Additionally, Sony is bringing out the PlayStation VR headset in October of this year and it is possible that the company wants to offer the upcoming PlayStation 4 Neo to those who buy the headset.

As soon as the rumor about the PlayStation 4 Neo and the PlayStation 4 Slim was reported, Sony was contacted, but not surprisingly, the company did not comment on it. However, other analysts have been pointing out that the PlayStation 4 Neo will only arrive next year, sometime between April-June.
