'Pokémon Go' Gen 2 update rumors: Niantic to release game update with Generation II Pokémon?

(Pokemon GO)Pokemon GO is rumored to have an update soon, which will feature Generation 2 Pokemon.

"Pokémon Go" continues to be a widely popular augmented reality game ever since it was released a little over a month ago. Some people have already caught different types of Pokémon that have been registered to their Pokedex. There is even one person who managed to "catch em all." Those who haven't completed their Pokedex yet are looking forward to the second generation of pocket monsters.

There are rumors that Generation 2 Pokémon are making their way to Niantic Labs' mobile game via a game update. The game developer hasn't announced anything official yet so it remains to be seen if the company will indeed release an update involving the second-generation Pokémon. These Pokémon are never-before-seen Pokémon types or evolutions of Generation 1 Pokémon.

For instance, Chansey, who is already a challenging find in the current game, doesn't have an evolutionary form. However, in Generation 2 Pokémon, the pink, adorable ovoid Pokémon will turn into Blissey. Eevee, who can evolve into three different types by renaming it appropriately, may also get different forms in Generation 2, which are Umbreon and Espeon.

A list found at Reddit details some of the Pokémon types that will get different evolutionary forms for Generation 2.

In addition to new evolution types, The BitBag speculated that a new Generation 2 update from Niantic might also incorporate the Baby Pokémon. This would make base Pokémon like Pikachu and Electabuzz go into their baby forms, Pichu and Elekid, respectively.

As mentioned, it is unclear if Niantic will release such an update, but fans are certainly hoping that is the case. Those who are looking forward to it might think about stocking up those evolve candies if they want to get Generation 2 Pokémon. In the same report from The BitBag, it was noted that this rumored update will likely arrive if the final six Pokémon will be added on top of the already existing 151.
