'Rainbow Six Siege' DLC news: Ubisoft to host a 50 percent Renown Boost event prior to DLC launch

(Rainbow Six Siege - Ubisoft website)"Operation Black Ice" original promotional poster, which still has the January expected release date. However, the game will be available in February.

After the success of the previous community challenge for "Rainbow Six Siege," dubbed as "No Man Left Behind," Ubisoft has announced that there will be another event that is set to be held this coming weekend: a 50 percent Renown Boost.

Unfortunately, the company did not reveal any other details regarding the event like the game mode that will be used or even the map. In addition, Ubisoft still hasn't revealed the exact time as to when the 50 percent Renown Boost will begin and will end. With that in mind, more updates regarding the matter will probably surface on the day itself.

Furthermore, it appears that there will be some conflict to some players as Ubisoft's other much awaited game, "Tom Clancy's The Division," is supposed to have its closed Beta this weekend for all the compatible platforms for the title, specifically on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and on the PC.

Meanwhile, fans of the tactical shooter game, "Rainbow Six Siege," will get to receive the IP's first downloadable content, which is currently called "Operation Black Ice." According to the leaked image that was previously reported, this new DLC will introduce new operators into the game namely Frost and Buck.

Frost will have the ability to setup "mechanical traps" that can "incapacitate" her enemies while Buck can use the ability called "Skeleton Key," the under-barrel shotgun that was added on his primary weapon.

As for the settings of this DLC, it was suggested on the trailer that was leaked earlier this month by Ubisoft Mexico that "Operation Black Ice" could be set on a yacht that was frozen in pack ice. However, the publisher still hasn't confirmed nor denied the claims of the leak. So for now, it is highly advisable for the fans to keep an open mind and consider this as mere speculation until proven otherwise.

"Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Black Ice" is expected to hit all platforms of the game this coming Feb. 2.
