Capcom is said to be dropping a huge announcement at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 that should delight all "Resident Evil" fans.

It's been four years since fans last played a fresh installment from the horror video game franchise. Now, rumor has it that Capcom will provide details of the upcoming game. According to Dr. Serkan Toto, the CEO of Kantan Games which is a Japan-based game consultancy who posted his news on Twitter, "Resident Evil 7" is already in development and it will reportedly return to its horror roots.

Toto added that the game will be unveiled at E3 and that the production team has hired game designer Jordan Amaro, who worked on "Metal Gear Solid V" and "P.T." Toto has been known to provide rumors that turn out to be true but since he didn't mention any sources, readers should still take this piece of information with a pinch of salt.

Fans can only hope though that Toto's report is accurate since it would mean that they will once again get their hands on a new "Resident Evil" game. After all, Capcom did announce that it will release two "major titles" by March 2017. If Toto's claims are correct, then "Resident Evil 2" could be one of those titles to come out by March next year.

Whether or not there's truth to the rumor is anybody's guess. It could just be one of the many speculations to get the hype up in the gaming community, considering that the E3 is just weeks away.

It's obvious that "Resident Evil 7" is one of the many anticipated games that is part of the rumor mill. It's expected that more news about the rumored launching of the game will pop up in the weeks to come. Capcom has yet to confirm or deny the rumors.
