It is surprising that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) did not schedule a rematch between current women's bantamweight champion Miesha Tate and former titleholder Holly Holm, and the latter thinks it may be because of a potential Ronda Rousey rematch.

Holm, won the bantamweight title last November after shocking the world by knocking out Rousey. Because of her eagerness to return to the octagon and not wait for Rousey to recover, the UFC gave her Tate as a challenger. Unfortunately, she lost the belt to Tate back in March.

Instead of setting up a second fight between Tate and Holm, the UFC decided to let the new queen of the division battle contender Amanda Nunes at UFC 200 this July for the championship.

This is not the news Holm wanted, and speaking to Ariel Helwani of The MMA Hour, she said there is a possibility the UFC is planning a rematch between her and Rousey.

"It's very possible. I don't know what their real thinking is, but they're obviously a successful business for a reason. They're a successful promotion. They usually have their reasons behind everything," Holm explained.

The 34-year-old then added that whoever she faces next, Rousey, Tate, or a top contender, she will train hard.

After the damages she received versus Holm, Rousey received a medical suspension and is expected to return around November or December. Since Tate is defending the title this July, that time frame also fits her.

Because the first fight between Holm and Rousey became a huge spectacle, there is a chance the rematch between the two will take place first before a Holm-Tate rematch. The UFC can also use the rematch as a No. 1 contender's match for Tate's title.

Since mixed martial arts (MMA) is now legal in New York, the UFC is expected to have a grand fight card in its first event in the state and the Holm-Rousey rematch might be included in it.
