Sacramento Kings trade rumors 2016: Ben McLemore's chances of being dealt improved?

Sadly for Ben McLemore, it seems whatever happens, he will be parting ways with the Sacramento Kings in the future as it was reported that there is no extension deal in sight for the young guard.

This is terrible news for McLemore since without a new pact, there is a bigger chance of him being dealt in the regular season's trade period.

Trading McLemore at least guarantees the Kings that they are getting something for his value instead of just letting him become a restricted free agent in 2017 and signing an offer sheet with another team.

McLemore was selected by the Kings seventh overall in the 2013 National Basketball Association (NBA) draft. The 23-year-old had a good rookie season and improved significantly in his second year during the 2014-15 season. In that outing, he averaged a career-best 12.1 points per game.

However, last season, McLemore failed to capitalize on the momentum and his game went downhill. His playing time was reduced to a career-worst 21.2 minutes per contest and he recorded another career-low with 7.8 points each night.

Because of this, McLemore was dragged to the rumor mill. He joined DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay, and Kosta Koufos on the list of Kings players believed to be on the market.

As of the moment, McLemore is still in Sacramento although he holds an uncertain future. Perhaps if he performs well and returns to the scorer he was, an extension is possible. But if he fails, then him donning a different jersey is inevitable.

If ever McLemore leaves the Kings, finding a new squad to play for could surprisingly be an easy task for him. He is still young, which means he has the potential. A lot of organizations in the league are seeking for prodigies they can mold and develop to be future franchise stars.
